Tabatha Hamilton of Trenton, Georgia was the first woman to cross the finish line in the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon last weekend, with a time of 2 hours, 54 minutes, 21 seconds. Lillian Gilmer of Nashville, Tennessee was the second woman to finish at 3:21.28. Ten years Hamilton’s senior, she was initially given the masters award and told she was runner-up in the women’s overall field. It was later determined that Hamilton crossed the halfway mark of the race with a time of 2:06.51. Doing some math, it showed the second 13.1 miles were completed in just 47:30. The judges deemed this feat impossible by natural means, and gave the win to Gilmer. The masters award was reassigned to Jennifer Funk of Signal Mountain, Tennessee.
