Pope Francis Calls For Greater Acceptance For Homosexuals & Divorcees

Pope Francis is leading an extraordinary change in the doctrine of the Catholic Church. In the middle of a two-week meeting of bishops, the Vatican released a document yesterday outlining a new openness to gay unions, though not endorsing actually gay marriage. It also call on pastors to “avoid any language or behavior that might make them feel discriminated against” when dealing with divorced Catholics who remarry outside the church. As expected, some conservative Catholic groups aren’t very happy with the idea of a more accepting church, and the Vatican is reminding all that the document itself is not a change in church doctrine, but a starting point for a discussion on the future vision.
