Mel Kiper Jr. Evaluates The Top 5 Picks In His First 2015 Mock NFL Draft


ESPN NFL draft Insider Mel Kiper Jr. is known for his famously stiff hair and for being an authority on what teams will take a chance on turning college football players into millionaires. The 80th annual NFL franchise draft meeting will be held on July 17, 2014, which means there is five months’ worth of sports media time to fill with the subject. And in the weeks so far that we’ve had to think seriously about the subject, the greatest debate is between who may be selected with the first pick. The national media has the focus on two marquee quarterbacks, Marcus Mariota of the Oregon Ducks and Jameis Winston of the Florida State Seminoles. Both teams made it to this year’s NCAA College Football Playoffs to show their skills on the national stage, and both quarterbacks had disappoint performances in their final appearances of the season. As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earned the right to the first pick in this year’s draft my finishing their season with a 2-14 record, Kiper projects that the Buccaneers will select Winston with that pick.
